Hey lovely readers!
Here’s a book review for you. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this amazing book, so thank you Siobhan Davis and Social Butterfly PR for that opportunity.
My entire life is a lie, propelled by one wrong decision that altered my fate.
If fans knew the truth, they’d run away screaming. But all they see is Ryder Stone, moody guitarist and lead singer of Torment, and a potential notch on their bedpost.
Only two people know who I really am. My manager has a vested interest in keeping my secret, and the girl I was forced to leave behind doesn’t even know the true extent of my shame.
Losing Zeta is both my biggest regret and my proudest moment. But she was the glue keeping me together, and I’m struggling to survive without her. Especially when demons from my past continue to haunt me and the threat of disclosure is ever present. When she reappears in my life, this time, I’m too weak to push her away. Her love has the power to save me. Mine has the power to destroy her.
I’ve worked hard to forget my past. To rise above my messed-up childhood and make something of myself; however, there’s no forgetting him.
Ryder’s gorgeous face and drool-worthy body are plastered over tabloids and TV screens, reminding me I’m still in love with the boy who captured my heart in juvie.
When he failed me, I thought I’d never again experience such heart-crushing pain. But watching him fall out of clubs with a succession of different girls renews the agony, resurrecting countless unanswered questions.
Now my boss has sent me to interview him. It’s a massive scoop for the magazine, and turning it down would kill my career. So, I delude myself into thinking I can handle this. Perhaps this is the closure I need to finally move on.
Except I’m terrified nothing has changed and one look into those soulful eyes will suck me in again.
Ryder almost destroyed me last time. This time, he could ruin me forever.”
Oh boy, where to start exactly? How about with this one simple world: wonderful. Siobhan Davis has created yet another amazing world to fall into. A world of music, lyrics, love, heartbreak, betrayal, and strength.
Here’s the thing, I don’t want to say much about the plot, because that would definitely spoil the story. But I will say a bit about the characters themselves and how I felt about the pacing, writing, etc. First off, this book is a rough start content wise. Like it’s gut-wrenching, but so important to the entire story. So push through, I promise it’s all worth it.
Ryder is truly one of the most amazing and selfless characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. I love his arc in this story. He really personifies perseverance and strength even if he doesn’t always appear so strong. Even when he’s being a colossal jerk, which he does a lot, you can see past that to all of the pain. And the most amazing part to me is that he knows how wrong he’s being. And he fights tooth and nail to get back to himself and the people that love him.
And Zeta? Well, she’s pure courage. I was so impressed with her right from the very beginning. To go through what she did, to be in the environment she was in and come out the other side a good person is really amazing. She had true nerves of steel throughout the entire story. I couldn’t fault her for any choice she made, because she always did what was best for her even though it seemed impossible. I was so proud of her for staying true to herself. Also I’m kind of in love with her name haha.
The pacing of the story was perfect for me, a bit of insta love with some angst, and heartbreak in there for good measure. I also really enjoyed the setting for the story. The first part and the second part of the book are two complete opposites in terms of settings. And the contrast really is quite startling, especially when you factor in the behavior of both main characters between the two parts. The book was just so well written, it drew you in completely and at the end I just wanted more!
This was a really great read and I’m excited for everyone else to experience it!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
