Hey lovely readers!
Today’s post is a book review of season 1 of Palm South University by Kandi Steiner.
“Drama. Lies. Sex. Welcome to Palm South University.
The weather isn’t the only thing heating up in South Florida. At a school where fraternities and sororities don’t exactly play by the rules, relationships are bound to be tested. Parties and sex are definitely key ingredients in the Palm South recipe, but what happens when family issues, secret lives, and unrequited love get tossed in the mix?
Follow Cassie, Bear, Jess, Skyler, Erin, Ashlei, and Adam as they tackle college at a small, private beach town university. Written in television drama form, each episode of this serial will pull you deeper and deeper into the world of PSU.
Where the sun is hot and the clothes are scarce, anything can happen.”
So guys the first thing I want to say about this book is: DRAMA! And I freaking love it. It’s basically the TV show Greek, but in book form and that just makes me so happy. College, Greek life, parties, girls, boys, love, lust, fun, and love triangles. Just yes please! I mean this book is pure fun, ridiculous drama that puts a smile on your face. It’s one of those books you can read just to make you smile and maybe pull you out of a reading slump. Okay so let’s get to the actual plot and setup of the book.
When the author originally started publishing this story it was broken up into 6 episodes which were individually published. Those 6 episodes made up season 1 and they have now been put into 1 book as a season 1 box set. Each episode consists of several chapters which are each narrated by a different character. The writing is fun and clever and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much during a book. So because there are so many characters I’m just going to talk a little bit about my favorites and my favorite relationships in the book.
My favorite character is absolutely Bear! I think because his life reminds me a bit of mine at least as a child and in college a bit. I adore him and his amazing relationship with Skyler. Even when he’s being a dumb ass I love him, because he always admits when he was in the wrong. But I think I love him the most for the way he takes care of Erin after everything she endures. My second favorite character was for sure Cassie, because again I saw myself in her a little bit. I definitely understood her the most and could empathize with the situation she finds herself in. And lastly my favorite relationship was Skyler and Bear ❤ They’re everything!
On a more serious note this book definitely has a few dark moments, and most notably their is an abortion sub-plot. If this is something you aren’t comfortable with you may want to avoid this book. But I want to stress that this is fiction and we are all entitled to our own view points and opinions. I found this particular point in the story to be a necessary tool in character development and I absolutely support a woman’s right to choose.
This book was just so much fun to read. I loved the story, the characters, and I was completely hooked from the beginning. Like I said if you loved Greek you will absolutely love this book! I’ve already finished seasons 2 and 3 as well and those reviews will be coming soon!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
