Hey lovely readers!
It’s time for a weekly recommendations post. And this week you asked for contemporary romances, so here are 5 of my favorites!
Bane (Sinners of Saint #4) by L.J. Shen
“A COMPLETE standalone and a Sinners of Saint spin-off.
Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud. Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living. Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled. Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently. Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.
Hot as hell, cold as ice. I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap. She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time. She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad. More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack. Little does she know, I have the teeth for it.”
*This book contains material that might be offensive for some or elicit a strong emotional response.
If you follow my blog or Twitter you’ve probably seen me go on and on about this book. I can’t begin to explain how much I love this book. It’s one of those that will forever be ingrained in my heart. I really was not expecting the story to go the way it did or for it to effect me like it did. But as a survivor of sexual assault, I saw myself in Jesse. I cannot thank the author enough for being brave enough to write this story and for handling it with such dignity. On a happier note, the book is also funny, smart, and a times so witty. I just love it. You can check out my full review here.
Reaper’s Property (Reapers MC #1) by Joanna Wylde
“Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now. But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life.
Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”. Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, he’ll let her brother live.
So this one is just pure fun and smut. And I’m not even sorry! I watched Sons of Anarchy for the first time last year. And after I binged the entire series I went on a Motorcycle Club Romance reading binge! This one is probably my favorite of all the ones I read. It’s pure ridiculous hot biker boy fanfiction. But it was also surprisingly well written and funny. If you’re looking to get into MC romances I definitely recommend starting with this one!
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
“Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.
Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?”
I can’t even with this book guys! I’ve actually just started it and I already want to cry my eyes out. This is my very first Colleen Hoover book and already I can tell the woman is a genius. I cannot wait to meet her at Apollycon next March! But anyway. This book is so unique in the way it’s written and it really lets you see how much people change in just one year. So far it’s a really beautiful story and if I wasn’t busy getting ready for my vacation I’d already have finished it!
King (King #1) by T.M. Frazier
“Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.
Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from. A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three. King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.”
Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.
Definitely not a book for the faint of heart, but a captivating story non the less. Non-traditional romance to the max! This book surprised me so much. It had been on my TBR for months, but I was honestly afraid to read it because of things I’d heard about it. I wasn’t sure if I could look past the violence and see the story underneath. But OMG from the first page I was hooked. And more than that I was impressed by the depth of the story itself. I dare you not to become addicted to these characters 😉 You can find my full review for this one and book 2 here.
Fractured Love (Off-Limits Romance #3) by Ella James
“I was sixteen when he came to our house. Landon Jones, a boy with nothing, from nowhere. He had cinnamon hair and blue eyes—light blue, just like mine. When we went out as a family with my foster brother, people asked if Landon was my twin. He wasn’t. That year, we found out how much he wasn’t. When my parents caught us, they threw Landon out like trash.
Now I’m twenty-nine, a soon-to-be surgeon, like my mom and dad. I know residency is going to kick my ass, but I had no idea that it would rip my heart out, too. Not until I see him—Dr. Jones.”
Again a totally unexpected favorite. I had absolutely no idea what this story was about before I started reading it and to say I was surprised: understatement. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say get your tissues ready! Also I know this book is number 3 in thee series, but all of them are complete stand-alones.
That’s it lovelies. I hope you find your next favorite read here!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
