Hey lovely readers!
Here are this week’s recommendations! Contemporary romance, my favorite ❤
The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
“Ira Levinson is in trouble. At ninety-one years old, in poor health and alone in the world, he finds himself stranded on an isolated embankment after a car crash. Suffering multiple injuries, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes and comes into focus beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together – how they met, the precious paintings they collected together, the dark days of WWII and its effect on them and their families. Ira knows that Ruth can’t possibly be in the car with him, but he clings to her words and his memories, reliving the sorrows and everyday joys that defined their marriage.
A few miles away, at a local rodeo, a Wake Forest College senior’s life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward — even life and death – loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans — a future that Luke has the power to rewrite . . . if the secret he’s keeping doesn’t destroy it first.
Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.”
So yeah in case you didn’t know, I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks. His movies and his books the man can do no wrong. I know he gets a bit of hate, but his books, to me are so heart – warming. My favorite is absolutely The Longest Ride. If you are going to read any of his books, let it be this one. I love the history this story incorporates, along with beautiful art, and hot cowboys 😉
Just For Now (Sea Breeze #4) by Abbi Glines
“The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around. The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food. He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…
There was this girl. She was as innocent as he was tainted.
Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance. Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.”
First book I ever read by Abbi Glines, she’s queen of romance by the way 😉 You definitely don’t have to read the other books in the series to read this one. But they’re fantastic so you totally should! I just love the setting of this story and this series, southern beach town. Plus Preston and Amanda’s story is pretty adorable!
Unraveling You (Unraveling You #1) by Jessica Sorenson
“Lyric Scott has always had a good life. Outgoing, spunky, and musically talented, she’s constantly surrounded by family and friends, yet she still feels there’s something missing. Then she meets her new next-door neighbor Ayden Gregory. Mysterious, sweet, and sad, Ayden is the exact opposite of Lyric and exactly what she needs to fill the void in her life. Ayden has been through more than most people and believes his life is always going to be rocky, so when he’s suddenly adopted by the Gregorys, he’s thrown for a turn. But even with a new, loving family, he still finds himself haunted by the memories of his old life. The only true breath of fresh air is when he’s with his best friend, Lyric Scott. As Lyric and Ayden grow closer, the lines of their friendship start to blur. But when Ayden’s past unexpectedly pushes its way into his new life, their friendship and newfound attraction will be tested.”
**A novel about Ella and Micha’s daughter and Lila and Ethan’s son from The Secret Series. However, this series can be read on its own.**
I absolutely love Jessica Sorenson. She’s one of the first new adult authors I ever read and now I’m hooked. All of her books are about these amazing love stories. The kind that make you cry both happy and sad tears. They’re gritty and real and everything a good book should be. With this one, the synopsis got me. Ayden’s story is horrific and Lyric just wants to be there for him. Watching them fall in love and slowly find some peace was just so satisfying.
More Than Enough (More Than #5) by Jay McLean
“There’s no emotion greater than fear. No ache greater than grief. No sound greater than silence.
I’m grateful he showed up on my doorstep,
pissed off and angry at the world. If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t be here. And I don’t just mean here on this journey with him. I mean here, in this world.
I wonder what events in all our lives—hers included—are The Turning Points? The points where we all determine that the fear of our pasts and the uncertainty of our futures are greater than our need for happiness. Here. Now. While time and everything around us stands unmoving… who’s to say we can’t have it all?
We wanted it all. We wanted it with each other. We thrived on the chaos we created. And ignored the Mayhem that ensued. Because falling in love was easy. But sometimes, love isn’t enough.”
This one shouldn’t surprise you if you follow my blog 🙂 I love Jay McLean and this series. It’s literally everything. And this one ugh I love it so much. You don’t have to read the first four to read this one, but there’s no question you should. The first one is good, but the rest are phenomenal and I will fight anyone who says otherwise 😉 If you don’t like these books….. seriously what’s wrong with you? But anyway! This story deals with loss, loneliness, grief, and the things you do to numb the pain. Something I think we can all relate to in a way. And that simple fact makes the end that much more amazing ❤
A Humble Heart (Hollywood Hearts #1) by R.L. Mathewson
“After wasting too many years on the wrong man Dana is finally able to free herself and her two children only to find herself thrown into the spotlight when her books become an overnight sensation. Suddenly her normal quiet life is gone forever and she’s forced to deal with paparazzi, offers from porn companies, magazines, Hollywood and crazed fans all while trying to keep it together for her kids. She never dreamed she’d catch the eye of the most sought after bachelor in the world. Things like that just didn’t happen to women like her, or did they?
Having a life? What the hell was that? Edward couldn’t remember what it felt like to live his own life without someone watching his every move. Thanks to the paparazzi and the internet nothing in his life was sacred. Out of desperation to keep some semblance of a life he stops living his own. His family and work are all he has left until he’s made an offer he simply can’t resist. Working with the famous author forces him to open his heart and take a chance. Winning the heart of the woman he loves while the world watches is anything but easy, but he never thought it would be dangerous. His only hope is that they get through it together…..and alive.
Okay odd cover aside, this book is quite simply: hot. I mean seriously the steamy scenes in this book and in all of the books by this author are so good. The stories aren’t bad either! But I think this one’s my favorite, because it centers around a woman who realizes her dream of becoming a published author. It’s kind of a fun Cinderella story!
That’s it for this week! I hope you find your next favorite read here.
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
