Book Review – Heavenward (Celestial Creatures, #1) by Olga Gibbs

Hey lovely readers!

Today’s post is a book review of Heavenward (Celestial Creatures, #1) by Olga Gibbs. I was contacted by the author to review this book which is available on Kindle Unlimited! Okay lets get to the review!

Heavenward“Life is tough for Ariel. A childhood, filled with domestic violence, neglect, abuse and the recurring nightmare that plagues her every night, for as long as she remembers, questioning her sanity, and a secret, which she doesn’t want anyone to know and is so desperately to forget herself.
Now she’s locked away in a rural town in a Northern England, with her life as dull as the town itself.
But when three new students appear in a sleepy town’s school, Ariel doesn’t suspect that her life is about to change forever, as she is drawn into an ancient celestial conflict, that is bigger than her, and which she needs to survive to remain herself.
But would you chose to protect humanity that broke you or would you take revenge?
It’s a story of a survivor, who’s refusing to be a victim and is prepared to fight until the end.”

So if you’re a fan of the Fallen Series by Lauren Kate this book is for you, because you know angels 😉 Honestly that’s what sparked my interested. Seriously though this book was intriguing with enough twists and turns to keep your attention. I really liked Ariel as a character, she’s a tough girl and I definitely found myself rooting for her. The story had all of the good elements you want. Drama, romance, and some action too.

I did have some issues with the story though. There was a warning about violent scenes, but for this book I found them completely unnecessary. It works in some stories, but for me it just did not fit here. I also had an issue with the cover, it is not appealing. I had actually seen this book several times on Kindle, but it never interested me because of the cover. The overall story was an interesting one and I think this has the potential to be a good series. It just needs a bit of polishing! I definitely recommend this for fantasy lovers! 3 out of 5 stars for me!

Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! <3 Adrianna
