Book Review Altered – Carter Kids #6 by Chloe Walsh

Hey lovely readers!

So here is my very first book review. Lets get into it! Disclaimer: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

altered.jpgHope Carter used to believe in happily ever afters.
She has always tried to do the right thing – be the good girl everyone expects her to be.
Until her uncle’s former cellmate crashed into her world, altering her otherwise inevitable existence.

He’s bad.
He’s wrong.
He’s dangerous.
He’s everything she never knew she wanted.

Caught up in a marriage that’s only real on paper, while desperately in love with another man, Hope is trying to find a way to protect the man that’s taken her heart, without losing her soul in the process.
Unfortunately, the path that leads to her happiness has the power to destroy the man she vowed to never abandon.

How do you decide between a love you’ve known all your life, or a connection so deep it affects you to your very core?
How do you let go of something you’ve clung to for so long?
How do you choose between what everyone thinks is right, and what you know is right for you?
Do you give up your happiness so they can have theirs, or do you choose the second chance you’ve been given at love?
One thing is certain, no matter the choice, someone loses.
One thing is certain, you can’t run forever.

Lives will be altered forever in the sixth installment of the hugely successful Carter Kids series.”

***** Warning *****
Some scenes in this book may be extremely upsetting for some readers.

So first things first. The book I’m going to be talking about is Altered by the lovely Chloe Walsh. I just want to say that Chloe did not ask me to review her book and I gain nothing monetary from doing so. I simply want the world to know how amazing this book is and how amazing Chloe is. If you haven’t read her books, you absolutely need to.

Now Altered is the sixth book in the Carter Kids series. This book is a continuation of the story following Hope, Lucky, and Jordan. It begins with Hope torn between her two men after just having been attacked. Lucky saves her and she realizes how much she wants to be with him. When she decides to leave Jordan he goes crazy and blackmails her to stay with him. She does this to protect Lucky. We do get pov’s from all three of these characters, so it makes for an interesting read.

I don’t want to give the whole book away, so let me just talk now about why I love this book and Chloe so very much. Chloe tackles really tough issues in her books and this one is no different. This books touches on adultery, rape, drug use, gun violence, murder you name it. But at its heart the story is one of personal triumph. All three characters go through terrible pain, loss, and desperation. But they come out on the other side so much stronger. Altered is a beautiful, gritty love story that also has some hot sexy times. If you’re looking for a book that will make you ugly cry both from sadness and happiness this book is for you. The story inspires me, because it is not all fairy tales and roses. This book was Chloe’s best work yet. She has a way of making her readers fall in love with her characters to the point where they feel real. I can identify with Hope more than any other book character I’ve read about. And that’s saying a lot, because I’ve read a lot of books! Give this book and all her others a chance and I promise you won’t regret it!

Thanks for reading guys, and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
